First Floor Balcony and Decking

An Oak timber-framed bedroom balcony, landing on Millboard Decking with Oak steps.

Our client asked us to extend the footprint of their ground floor living room and construct an Oak framed balcony to the front of their first-floor master bedroom.  The client also requested that the existing raised decking be replaced at the same time.

Once the groundworks were completed and our working area was fully scaffolded, a winch was needed to lift the large Oak frame pieces into place, using traditional carpentry joints to ensure an exact and tight-fitting finish.

This project was not without its challenges, especially in ensuring that the juncture where multiple materials converge can be successfully joined and weathered.

We also replaced the raised decked area with Antique Oak Millboard decking, and installed Oak access steps at either end.

Barnwood project managed this build with the client, working with a team which included glass door manufacturer and installers, electricians, plumbers, plasterers, and decorators.

This project has transformed the front the house and the balcony offers stunning views of the garden and surrounding area.

Barnwood always do amazing work. We have used them twice for large projects. Their craftsmanship is outstanding and they are an absolute pleasure to deal with. I cannot recommend them highly enough – Andrew Richards
