A beautiful riverside breakout area for a local company.
A local company approached us to replace their existing riverside decking area.
The existing decked area had rotted and was no longer safe for use. We were tasked with replacing the raised decking, including the groundworks, sub-frame, fencing replacement, and creation of a fenced-in area for the utilities, complete with an access gate.
A key challenge with this project was the proximity of the river which had been a key contributor to the deterioration of the existing deck. To mitigate this, we used recycled plastic timbers for the sub-frame which do not rot in water. The client chose Enhanced Grain Antique Oak Millboard Decking which is a high-quality composite decking material and again, is not prone to rotting in water.
We managed to complete the groundworks without falling into the river and then fitted the subframe and decking. The ducks and swans certainly kept a close eye on us. We then fitted a safety fence to the river side of the decked area and fenced in the utility unit. Once the carpentry was completed, we added a stain to all the softwood to match the decking.
The new decked area provides a peaceful seating area overlooking the river and is frequently in use on dry days. It is always of such benefit to have access to nature during the working day.
