BARNWOOD CARPENTRY provided the most excellent service for with fitting a lovely barn door in my rather slanted cottage They were professional, efficient, friendly and tidy. The price was very reasonable too I can’t recommend them enough Thank you RichardPosted on Andrew RichardsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Third visit from Barnwood to do another big project at our house. We are very pleased with our new oak framed porch over our back door and the remodelling of our utility room. Richard and team always produce excellent results and are super easy to deal with. Highly recommend!!Posted on Lucy SnowballTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. High quality work. Super easy to arrange, communicate, plan and design.Posted on Nicola MolletTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Barnwood built us a fabulous barn garage. It was a complex project as needed to be embedded in a bank with a number of particular bespoke specifications. We can’t praise the team enough for their communication, efficiency and effectiveness. The entire team were always hard working, positive, polite and considerate in their approach to the project. There was daily communication as to what was happening and when. Any decisions were checked with us and we worked together to create a best solution. The end result is a great barn garage space with a stunning space upstairs. We are really delighted with the end result and it has added enormously to our home. Enormous thanks to the entire team and we look forward to using you again.Posted on Nigel WilkinsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This review is rather long... please read... this company is special in many ways... Jo and I live in a mid 19th century cottage. The house had some upgrades In the 1980's/90's which included the addition of a hardwood conservatory and softwood pergola. We decided on a replacement conservatory but retaining the brick footings and wall, and the roof (which had been replaced and was still within warranty). The pergola needed replacing After discussions with a traditional UPVC provider and Richard we opted on having a matching oak conservatory and pergola, with an ambitious plan of retaining the existing roof structure with improved insulation and maximising glass coverage in the walls. Richard's whole approach to the pitch and the project planning processes was spot on. No surprises, no over promises and no over selling.... Just what we look for (and very rarely see!) Richard introduced us to Alec during the process, meaning no over commiting to the key carpenter. Everyone singing from the same sheet... We couldn't wait for the work to begin... The team put up a temporary workshop in the garden to allow all the woodworking to take place on site. The methodology used to retain the roof was simple but extremely effective... old structure came down, new went up... seamless. Every day was excellent... hard work, good communication and a complete clean-up at close of work. We knew exactly what was happening throughout and when there was the odd minor change in timings we knew quickly and expectations were managed. When it came to the pergola we were invaded by the whole team, and the build process (including the retaining of a mature intricately entwined vine, unharmed!) took two days... sensational!!! Every single member of the team was hard working, visibly proficient, tidy and very polite... it really was a pleasure to have the team around (If hones, how often can you say that when having a building project done?) The project went to plan, but finished earlier than the "out date" we were given. We don't really want to single anyone out, but feel that a special mention is justified for Alec who has displayed exceptional carpentry skills and left us with something we are truly in love with!!! Thank you. (But... we hear you say, you couldn't have done it without all your helpers) Richard and Tabitha came round to discuss the final bill (a really nice touch) and the very small additional costs were fully recognised and unquestionably fair. Finally... one of the two main guys noticed a very minor impurity in one of the glass panes, bought it to our attention and we agreed a plan of how to manage it... we would not have seen this in the first place and many would not have pointed it out. What a statement of the kind of people who run this business!!! Trust is key. This company engenders it at all levels... Thank you all so much! Jo and NigelPosted on Jane DyeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Friendly, hard working, polite team of guys. Really pleased with the study unit we had built.Posted on Natasha WestburyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Superb craftsmanship, and excellent team. We had bought a reclaimed front door, which had been renovated, but still required sizing and hanging. The team from Barnwood were superb, great with our dog 🙂 (who is always a good judge of trades folk) and worked brilliantly to time, barely stopping during the day. Highly recommend Barnwood Carpentry, skilled craftsman who really care about doing a top job!Posted on Neil HardingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We spent a couple of years working design features with our architect and getting planning permission for our 3 bay car barn. We ran a competitive pricing process and were very impressed with the enthusiasm and attention to detail by Richard. This came through in the construction and in the culture of the Barnwood team as we met and worked with Callum, Haydn, Ben and Chris. Tabitha was also the engine that drove the project from the program, cost and contract perspective always overcoming those pesky issues that arise. This was not a straightforward build. Ground conditions, retaining wall, levels, existing structures all had to be either built, removed or adapted to suit. Richard and the team kept the site spotless and did everything in house. It’s such a pleasure to meet craftsmen that care and have the capability to meet conditions and solve the issues of the day in their stride. We will continue to use Barnwood as we improve our home and its grounds. Having spent 40 years in the construction industry I found this build a pleasure to be involved with and can wholeheartedly recommend the Barnwood teamPosted on Marc CowleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are absolutely delighted with the work that Richard and his team have carried out for us recently. They blitzed our various jobs over four days and that included building and installing bespoke under stair storage cupboards/shelves/hangers. Every single member of the team was very easy to have around the house and the end result looks fantastic. Highly recommended!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Our quotation process
However you choose to contact us, we will arrange a mutually convenient time to visit you and discuss your project. We will take time to fully understand what it is you need and how you want it to look, talking through different design and material options, and considering alternative approaches. After this meeting, we will put together a detailed written quotation or estimate which we will send to you via email for your consideration.
Our approach to working with you
From the moment you give us instruction, we get to work. Once we have an agreed start date to work towards, we take time to select the best possible materials for your project and order these in a timely fashion to avoid delays to our build. Richard will occasionally carry out a second site visit to finalise measurements and material choices, and to brief one of our senior carpenter team. For larger projects, we may ask for a deposit to cover the initial purchase of the materials. Then we will invoice in stage payments, or at the end of the build – this we will agree with you in advance.
On the agreed project start date, our team will arrive at 8am with all the tools and materials they need to begin work. We take great care to work carefully and tidily, using where needed dustsheets and carpet protectors inside, and tarpaulins and ground mats outside. We liaise with our clients throughout the build and discuss any issues or findings as they happen. It is important to us that our clients have a voice and that we listen to what you say. We will always be as flexible as we can and explain everything that we do.
At the end of the build, we leave the site neat and tidy. We remove and lawfully dispose of all waste (unless otherwise agreed). It is only once our client has signed off the work that we will submit our final invoice. We want you to be happy!
We offer continued support to our clients and will provide you with maintenance and care suggestions for your build. If you have any concerns or questions, we are always happy to hear from you and will help in any way we can.
Standards and Safety
The health and safety of our team, clients, and members of the public is always at the centre of everything we do. We are constantly evaluating, monitoring, and improving our systems of work to ensure we work efficiently and safely. We utilise the expertise of the Federation of Master Builders to bolster our Health & Safety knowledge and to keep up to date with all the latest advice and guidance.
