Careful replacement of a bespoke Cedar timber hot tub surround
Our clients asked us to repair their hot tub surround and bench. We assessed the cedar timbers and found the damage was extensive and required a full repair. The client agreed that this was the best approach, replacing the ply lining and all the cedar timbers.
The team began with the careful removal of the existing timbers surrounding the hot tub. Once exposed, the rotten plywood layer beneath was removed and the supporting structure inspected. Areas requiring attention were reframed to provide a sound and stable base for the rebuilt surround.
The replacement timbers had to be individually measured, machined and fitted to recreate the unusual shape and curves. Every piece was different to the next and demanded precision and skill to create a seamless finish.
The seating extension to the hot tub surround was also repaired in the same manner, and the opening around the tree was extended to allow for future growth.
Attention was also given to the hinged lid mechanism. Adjustments and refinements were undertaken to improve operation, making the lid easier to open, close and secure while maintaining its existing appearance.
This excellent craftsmanship has not only improved the safety and longevity of this piece; it has also created a stunning area for the family to enjoy over many years to come.
