A detached Oak-framed three-bay garage and carport with tiled roof and handmade Oak garage doors
Our clients approached Barnwood to bring to fruition their timber-framed, double garage with carport. We were tasked with carrying out the entire build, from the groundworks and drainage, to the tiling of the roof.
The architect’s design incorporated a walkway with a vaulted ceiling between the garage and carport with a high plate to allow enough headroom for pedestrians to walk up the steps to the main property.
The build was seriously impacted by continuous rain, which flooded the site and impacted considerably on the ground conditions. The team made use of water pumps and muck-aways to remove the excess water and spoil from the site.
The garage was constructed from freshly sawn, planed all around, green Oak, with waney-edge boarding to the exterior.
The client agreed that handcrafted garage doors would finish the piece beautifully, so one of our senior carpenters cut and built the made-to-measure garage doors. These were swung on black adjustable gate hinges.
The clients are delighted with the finished building and it is already seeing a lot of use.
